The specially trained healthcare professionals staffing your local poison control center will assist in providing assessment, triage, management, and monitoring recommendations for any patient exposures. If you are a physician or healthcare provider in the U.S. Virgin Islands, you can access telephonic consultations with a board-certified clinical or medical toxicologist on staff at the Florida/USVI Poison Information Center – Jacksonville, by calling 1-800-222-1222. These consultations are provided free of charge, 24 hours per day.

Per 45 CFR 164.512(b), the Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC have provided poison centers accredited by the American Association of Poison Control Centers a grant of authority to conduct public health surveillance, investigations and interventions and thus function as a public health authority to whom covered entities may disclose protected health information for this purpose. The Florida/USVI Poison Information Center – Jacksonville operates under the auspices of the USVI Commissioner of Health office.
